Visitor Engagement Associate

Part-Time

The Wende is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Visitor Engagement Associate to join our team.

Visitor Engagement Associates (VEA) assist with both public-facing hospitality and museum operations. VEAs report to the Visitor Engagement Manager and oversee daily activity in the museum, which can include opening/closing duties, tours, and gift shop sales and inventory, as well as production and support for public and community programs or special events (following L.A. County Health Guidelines, and as permitted by Culver City officials). VEAs provide friendly and knowledgeable assistance to guests, and assist staff across departments as needed.

Ideal Candidate

•       Organized and detail-oriented

•       Excellent time management, emotional maturity, and interpersonal skills

•       Ability to work both independently and with a team

•       Enjoys interacting with museum patrons and event attendees

•       Enthusiasm for history, fine art, humanities, and/or political science

Skills & Experience

•       Relevant experience in a customer-focused environment such venues, restaurants and hospitality, or event production

•       Administrative experience

•       Proficient in Mac OS and iOS software and devices as well as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs

•       Practical math skills

START DATE: Immediate

SCHEDULE: Part-time position. 24 hours per week, either Wednesday through Friday or Friday through Sunday (with additional hours available)

Collections Internship Program

The Wende Museum is pleased to offer Collections Internships for currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students, as well as recent graduates. Positions are part-time, unpaid, and available for course credit. For more information, please see our flyer.

Internships are offered year-round, typically beginning in January, June, and September. We are accepting applications for Winter 2022 through November 26, 2021. To apply, please send cover letter and resume to internships@wendemuseum.org.

Internship Program

The Wende offers internship opportunities for college and graduate students interested in careers in museums. Based upon their academic training, interests and language skills, as well as the availability of projects, interns work in one of the Wende’s departments. While some projects require reading knowledge of German, Russian, or another East Bloc language, these skills are not necesssary for a successful internship. Applicants of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
